A year of mobile apps
Over the past year, I have been fortunate to have worked on some diverse and innovative projects at Innoppl. These apps have been creative, challenging and ultimately fulfilling for us.
Along the way we have learnt quite a bit of the intricacies of app development, and in true Innoppl fashion, have grown in the process. The challenges have varied from simple design decisions to finalizing a multi OS HTML5 platform.
One of our major projects was an iPhone and iPad app, TraVentures. The app is a virtual travel and adventure brochure stand for different cities. We, along with our client went through multiple design iterations to just get the wood grain and stain right for the stand. The UI design was worked on to be intuitive and unobtrusive. If you are planning a vacation anytime soon, feel free to check out the app. It will save you valuable time.
For Tap-Your-Taxi, a multiplatform Taxi app which connects clients to drivers, we created real time solutions which make the app work seamlessly. The whole process of calling a cab has been simplified to 2-3 clicks, and this was achieved with careful planning and UI design.
Along the way, we found memory management solutions for saving car details in memory before uploading for an auto services company. We have pushed and learnt the limitations and advantages offered by a cross platform HTML5 solution like PhoneGap. This has enabled us deliver the same app experience faster and cheaper for one of our biggest clients, The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Looking back, we do not see unexpected obstacles, days that were filled with multiple discussions on various algorithms, discussions on color shades and wood grains, curve radius on buttons and font sizes. We at Innoppl see only examples of our relentless pursuit for perfection and growth. It has not been ideal, but we will strive for it in 2013, the same way we did in 2012.
